Cody Rhodes is arguably the biggest babyface in WWE today. After a failed stint in his initial run with the company, the superstar had a shocking resurgence with his return in 2022 and the superstar hasn’t looked back since. With him ruling the roost, he has now stepped into the shadows of what his father, Dusty Rhodes, used to do during his time.

Now, in a breathtaking podcast, Rhodes has echoed the sentiments shared by millions of fans across the globe. He shared details about his father’s popularity, back in the 70s.

It’s no secret that Rhodes has turned things around in his career. His time in AEW taught him how to thrive and adapt, making him a powerful figure in that promotion.

The switch to WWE has been even more fascinating as a babyface. Rhodes has generated organic reactions and pops without getting heckled or jeered by WWE fans. Taking his inspiration from his father, the 38-year-old recently spoke on the Dale Jr. Download Podcast talking about the late Dusty Rhodes.

He initially spoke about his father’s influence on people nearby. The American Nightmare narrated an incident about the time his dad went to the pool. Cody quoted: “He’d go, he was 300 something pounds. Go on the diving board, do this huge dive, and just make a scene for all these parents at the pool… From them is when I first started realizing, he does something different and I got, really early on, got very protective about him.”

Rhodes has always respected his father. His deep love and respect for the WWE legend stems from the fact that he sacrificed a lot for his son. A few weeks back, Cody mentioned in an interview how Dusty pawned his Rolex watch because of his financial burdens. He made this great sacrifice only because he wanted his son to chase his dreams of entering Hollywood before he became a wrestler.

But Rhodes didn’t end things there, as he shared more exciting things about his father.
