Cody Rhodes was the EVP of AEW during his tenure in the promotion. The wrestler eventually left that workplace to come back to WWE and climb the popularity ladder. However, his absence from Tony Khan’s promotion sparked up some online whispers about him not liking the workplace or not working hard enough for them.

Recently, Rhodes had the opportunity to shed light on the topic. He discarded the rumors and indirectly claimed that he could not speak ill of the promotion even after leaving it behind because of the position he holds despite walking out.

After he left AEW, some of the personalities that The American Nightmare doesn’t wish to disclose started talking about how ‘less’ he did for the wrestling company while he was the EVP there. During a recent podcast episode that he shot with Cheap Heat, Cody Rhodes laid out everything in the open.

The top star said, “There were some people, I’m not going to say their names, they know who they were, who kind of tried to put some propaganda out when I left.” He also added, “Me, Matt, and Nick are as close as ever. So glad I had them in my career and my life. If we are being honest, AEW does not happen without me. It doesn’t. With that in mind, I could never root against them.

The WWE Undisputed Universal Champion believes that his post in AEW is still pretty high up even though he has left the company. So, keeping that in mind, he wouldn’t try to sabotage them. Just like how Cody Rhodes doesn’t dissociate himself from Tony Khan’s promotion even after walking out, AEW doesn’t let go of a star despite his past in the company.

The superstar in question is CM Punk. Instead of hooking itself to Cody Rhodes, who doesn’t have a controversial past with the company, AEW holds CM Punk’s past close. After several months, the backstage altercation was brought up when the promotion played the CCTV footage during one of its weekly shows. This divided wrestling fans on the internet.

Since then, there has been a lot of back and forth from AEW’s end that has kept the fanbase on edge. The official page recently took to ‘X’ to target the “Best in the World”. This angered a lot of fans online. Despite what is going on, neither CM Punk nor Cody Rhodes seems to be publicly speaking ill of their last workplace; proving the latter somewhat right.
