2023 has been a year where several WWE superstars shined. This included both fresh faces as well as established pro wrestlers who fought in several matches. However, as the year has now come to an end, fans have revealed that Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns were the ones who ruled their hearts.

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns had a really intense buildup. Interestingly, a social media post has now revealed that the clash they had for the WWE title was the best fight of the year. In fact, the top pro wrestlers of WWE have earned this honor solely based on fan support.

Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes outshine several matches

Wrestle Ops recently tweeted on X about a fan-voted contest that finally reached its conclusion. The tweet carried the caption, “WWE’s fan-voted tournament to crown the match of the year has concluded. The winner & crowned WWE’s 2023 MOTY… Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.” This is a big win for both superstars as they beat several other great matches.

Compared to the matches that later followed, including the intense WarGames match at Survivor Series, WrestleMania 39 seems very ancient. However, the show put on by Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes still managed to break through the fresh memories of the recent matches.

Cody Rhodes had qualified for the title shot against Roman Reigns after winning Royal Rumble. To date, it remains one of the flashiest and toughest ways to win the number one contendership. This also added to the success of their final showdown at Mania.

Cody Rhodes has held the reins of the WWE fairly well ever since he returned. The veteran has been phenomenal with his promotions as well as his fights. WWE to re-sign The American Nightmare

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com, WWE is looking to sign Cody Rhodes once again. Moreover, the move will be carried out as soon as possible and will retain The American Nightmare with a long-term contract. The company has also approached Rhodes to discuss the same.

While not many details of the new contract are known, sources reveal that Cody Rhodes will get a monetary hike with the new signing. 

Although there’s no confirmation so far, Rhodes is highly likely to remain with WWE. Moreover, he has yet to complete his story and will soon take a shot at either Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins.
