CM Punk might already be named one of the unluckiest megastars in the WWE. Despite gracing the center stage for more than a decade by now, he has been unable to fulfill his dream of main eventing WrestleMania. And his dreams suffered yet another blow in the 2024 Royal Rumble as Cody Rhodes eliminated him to punch his ticket to WrestleMania. And to make matters worse, Punk ended up tearing his tricep, which will cause him to miss out on WrestleMania.
In tonight’s edition of RAW, Punk opened the show as he came to the ring wearing a sling and announced his injury to the WWE Universe. He congratulated Cody Rhodes and elaborated more on the injury when Drew McIntyre interrupted him. This segment highlighted their animosity and McIntyre will become the first person ‘The Cult of Personality’ would like to face when he returns. But what transpired that led to this?

As Drew McIntyre made his way to the ring, one could sense vengeance in the air. The Scottish Warrior took the mic and revealed how he could not sleep after his elimination from the Royal Rumble thanks to CM Punk. However, when he got to know that Punk had succumbed to an injury and would miss out on major events, he “slept like a baby.” He further claimed that he manifested it, which might be the reason behind the injury as well.

It was then that CM Punk announced that when he returned, the first person that he would like to face was none other than McIntyre. Not long after this statement, McIntyre tried to take a cheap shot at Punk. ‘The Cult of Personality’ saw it coming and retaliated and a brawl ensued. However, Punk suffered another setback as his tricep was stomped on by the Scottish Warrior. But before the Scottish Warrior could do further damage, Sami Zayn saved him.

So while it looks like CM Punk will be having a storyline with Drew McIntyre once he returns, it means that his feud with Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins is out of the picture for a long time. The WWE Universe would surely be disappointed as the promo between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes was legendary, to say the least, and ‘The American Nightmare’s win at the Royal Rumble could’ve been a starting point for a possible heel turn for CM Punk.
