WWE’s Madison Square Garden show marked one of the most significant house shows in decades. Moreover, it caught all the spotlight for it features CM Punk’s first match for the company since 2014. Eyes were glued on the MSG arena tonight to witness The Second City Saint’s first-ever dance in the WWE squared circle since 2014.

And the match finally went down and yes, with the much-desired debut victory for Punk. The win is a warning that CM Punk is back and back with his full mojo.

The Chicago-based star attained the win with a thunderous GTS. Early in the match, the crowd chanted “You still got it” to Punk after Dominik rolled to the outside while Punk attempted a kick.

Mami tried to slide in with a pinfall interference to safeguard DomDom like always, but Punk’s shield was too rigid to let her get in the way.

With this unsurprising yet relieving win, Punk continues to walk in the WWE realm with his new fan-favorite status.

However, a potentially greater WWE run wouldn’t even been on the scene if Tony Khan didn’t let Punk go with a silly claim and also if his previous company had bought that narrative. But fortunately, they didn’t.

WWE believed in CM Punk’s transparency in the face of Tony Khan’s baseless claim

During a recent interview, former WWE manager Jim Cornette recently talked about the real circumstances behind CM Punk’s infamous AEW release. Earlier this year, AEW head honcho Tony Khan quickly brushed The Devil off from the roster following an intense brawl at All In. Khan mentioned that Punk took that scuffle with fellow star Jack Perry to such a level that it created an unsafe work environment for everyone present there. TK also claimed that he felt scared for his life.

However, WWE Higher Up wasn’t convinced by this notion and had known beforehand that the reality was something opposite.

In a recent clip from Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru, the WWE veteran revealed that WWE wouldn’t have asked Punk to spend more time in NXT to motivate the younger generations if Tony Khan’s claim about Punk was right.

For those unversed, CM Punk has been seen spending time with several NXT talents following his WWE return. He made his NXT debut and had a segment with Shawn Michaels at Deadline. The next week, Punk also shared a picture and had some interactions with his biggest fans Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez inside the gym.

However, We are now eager to see how a packed-up first week of the year 2024 will look like for CM Punk.
