Ever since his WWE return, fans have been confused about where CM Punk will end up. There are several ways that the promotion could used Punk in a new storyline. CM Punk to take revenge against the embarrassment he faced at WrestleMania 26

At WrestleMania in 2010, The Best in the World was set up in the ring for a match against Rey Mysterio. The condition was that if the Mexican wrestler had lost the bout, he would have been forced to join the ‘Straight Edge Society’. Refusing to join the villainous faction, Mysterio ended up wrestling against Punk at WWE’s biggest PLE of the year, winning as a result.

Iconic moments were building up to their match. For example, a couple of SmackDowns before their ultimate matchup, Punk appeared on the blue brand to threaten Mysterio in front of his family.

Through a recent Instagram story, Punk relived the moment by reposting that picture; possibly teasing his first WWE feud since the return at Survivor Series ’23.

However, it’s possible that this is not the only rivalry that Punk is going to have during the opening stages of his WWE return. In fact, a wrestling legend recently booked a hypothetical ‘dream match’ between Punk and a WWE Hall of Famer.

Can we see CM Punk at WrestleMania?

The bout that Bully Ray speculated on CM Punk’s future was not with Mysterio. Considering the tease that the 45-year-old uploaded on Instagram, it could be possible that his fight with the luchador goes up until Elimination Chamber. This is because Ray believes the most money WWE would make in Philadelphia would be if Punk were to ‘main event’ against Steve Austin.

While some would consider this idea ‘far-fetched’ Ray has reasons for believing in this possibility. Apart from the fact that we never got to see this rivalry get concluded, the former wrestler believes that it would be the perfect main event for night one of WrestleMania 40.

This was presented as a counter-view to the fact that the Chicago-based wrestler cannot possibly take on Roman Reigns during the PLE because it might be ‘too early’ for him since his return to WWE. And given the fact that his feuds with Rey Mysterio is still a couple of months away from the biggest PLE of the promotion, Austin has a good chance to come back to finally wrestle down his old rival.
