CM Punk Pens Down 3-Word-Message for Wife AJ Lee’s Decision to Take the Next Step in Life

CM Punk is an outspoken man. The straight-edge superstar never minces his words or shies away from being explicit whenever he can, whether it’s inside AEW or outside the ring. It seems he has adopted the same demeanor towards talking about his wife, AJ Lee.

In a recent post that went viral on the internet, Punk conveyed his approval for Lee in three words as she moved on to a different chapter in her life.

AJ Lee, aka AJ Mendez, retired from in-ring wrestling after permanently damaging her cervical spine in 2015. While she never wrestled after her career-ending injury, she switched to WOW- Women of Wrestling as an executive producer and a color commentator in 2021. With a successful tenure of almost 2 years, Lee has decided to call it quits and move on to a new phase in her life.

In a post by Wrestling News, the superstar spoke about the expiration of her contract and thanked the team that surrounded her during her tenure. Punk, who reshared the post, responded by saying: “my smart wife” lauding her decision.

Even though it’s unclear if she will make a return to in-ring wrestling, she looks to join CM Punk for the second season of their show, ‘Heels’. For those unversed, Heels is a show starring Stephen Amell, which is a show about professional wrestling. Lee will join Punk, who was a part of the first season as a recurring artist.

While AJ is a successful writer and author, fans are expecting her to make her in-ring comeback at AEW alongside her husband.

Lee joining CM Punk in AEW?

Despite having retired years ago, the former Divas champion commends a loyal fan base who is desperate to see her make a comeback inside the squared circle. She recently showcased her chiseled physique in a post that shocked fans across the world. Being shredded, the rumor mill suggested that she was bound to make a comeback. However, she shut down those claims with a post-captioned, “retired athlete”.

While this puts a serious dent in fans’ expectations, the wrestling business is known for its swerves all across. The old adage of “Never say never” applies aptly in the fantastical setting of pro wrestling. If she debuts in AEW, fans will go berserk by witnessing the return of the former WWE superstar.

As for Punk, it’ll be an added motivation, who is on a roll at AEW. The face of the company has had an unstoppable run and continued his momentum with his recent victory over Ricky Starks to retain his ‘real world heavyweight championship’ at AEW Collision.
