CM Punk calls out Seth Rollins' fashion—Is he right or just stirring the pot?

For almost a year, we have witnessed a hate triangle between Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, and CM Punk. It all began with the refusal of the first two to welcome the Chicago-made back to WWE. After months of barbs and even moments of physical confrontations, at Money in the Bank 2024, their controversies orbited around the World Heavyweight Championship, which champion Damian Priest successfully defended against the Visionary, but not before the Scottish Warrior cashed in, which failed due to the Best in the World. In the latest episode of Monday Night RAW, it was announced that CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will face each other at SummerSlam. However, by Adam Pearce’s decision, this clash will also have the addition of a special referee.

To find out the identity of the match referee for the clash, we didn’t have to wait long. Since it turned out to be Seth Rollins, who wasted no time and threw more fuel on the fire in the rivalry between McIntyre and Punk. Seth Rollins might’ve lost his Heavyweight Championship belt at WrestleMania; however, he still remains the WWE’s undisputed king of fashion. Ever since his return in 2021, the Visionary has been the eye candy for the promotion due to his amazing outfit choices with the aid of his stylist, Troi Anthoni. However, it seems like CM Punk is not a huge fan of his dressing sense. In fact, he decided to poke fun at his fashion during his recent appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Punk was part of a panel where he answered several questions from fans, one of which involved a fan asking Punk about his upcoming match stipulation. Being the WWE’s merc with the mouth, Punk had a savage answer prepared. He said, “For the upcoming one? Uhm, the stipulation is that idiot is the referee. You know, like I think anything more is gonna be a hat on a hat on a hat. Which sounds like something he would do. So, you know, I’m just trying to punch during the face. I don’t care where is that.”

Well, it would be interesting to see what the reply by the WWE’s drip god would be. As for Punk, judging by his confidence, he seems all prepared for his next fight. What must be fueling him further might be the fact that he is finally enjoying his run in the Stamford-based promotion. Something he did not enjoy during the Vince McMahon era. However, now he claims that he will not be leaving the promotion anytime soon. In fact, he wouldn’t have left in 2014 either if things were like they are now.

CM Punk claims that he would not have left WWE in 2014

CM Punk returned to WWE in November 2023 after nine years away from the company. His return was unthinkable for the vast majority of fans, and although once he was fired from AEW two months earlier rumors began to surface, it was still hard to believe because Punk’s relationship with WWE had been destroyed since his departure in 2014. In an interview with Denise Salcedo at San Diego Comic Con, CM Punk stated that he would not have left WWE in 2014 if the company at that time was what it is today, with Triple H and Nick Khan at the helm and a completely different work environment.

He said, “Honestly, if WWE was the place it is today back then, I never would’ve left. All the things that happened, all the arguments and all the butting of heads, and being injured and burnt out, and feeling like people in a managerial role weren’t listening. That doesn’t exist in the current atmosphere. I don’t wanna waste time thinking, ‘Oh, I should’ve done this, or I could’ve done this’. I think what makes my return so special is because of all the history, because of all the time passed. Now we’re here and it’s a happy moment for me.”

In this same interview, CM Punk talked about his return to WWE in 2023 and how the fact that Vince McMahon was no longer with the company made things a lot easier for him. Well, fans would be happy to see that Punk is finally satisfied with the promotion. Now, he has to face his biggest hurdle and get into the ring with Drew McIntyre, while Rollins makes sure that all odds are stacked against the Cult of Personality. What do you think? Will Punk manage to win at SummerSlam? Let us know in the comments.
