This Friday’s episode of SmackDown spread joy to the WWE Universe in spades. The blue brand started in style as CM Punk appeared in his hometown of Chicago to the cheers of the public. Punk had a segment with Paul Heyman, which then led to a confrontation at the hands of The Bloodline. The Chicago-based star avoided the ire of the faction due to Cody Rhodes. But that didn’t end an eventful night for the former AEW star.
Minutes later, Drew McIntyre appeared by surprise and brutally attacked CM Punk in the parking lot. The Scotsman then took a bleeding Punk to the stage area, where the entire Chicago audience saw him lying there, destroyed. Moments later, the Cult of Personality was taken to the hospital.
This emerged as a truly heartbreaking scene. Punk had just recovered from the triceps injury that he incurred in the Royal Rumble from none other than McIntyre. And another visit to the hospital will surely make his fans worry. However, it seems like McIntyre is surely over the moon with his actions. So much so that he recently mocked CM Punk again on social media with a new profile picture.

After suffering yet another loss for the Heavyweight Championship at Clash at the Castle because of interference by CM Punk, McIntyre “resigned” from WWE on the latest edition of RAW while also deactivating his social media. However, ‘The Scottish Warrior’ did not hesitate to reactivate his social networks to react to what happened during the blue branding. He changed his profile picture to one of Punk bleeding after the brutal attack that the Scottish superstar made on the former WWE Champion.

But a notable flaw resulted out of the engaging segment as the former AEW star failed to do his part with due dilligence.
CM Punk fails to sell the injury inflicted upon him by Drew McIntyre
The attack came after tonight’s promo, where Punk mocked McIntyre and his lack of manhood for having quit and not withstood the pressure of the Best in the World. He had also promised the Scottish Warrior that he would make his life a living hell.

This truly was an intense edition of SmackDown to watch. But it too had its flaws. And a major one was CM Punk deciding to break Kayfabe and not selling his injury enough. Despite being announced as being taken to the hospital, he was instead spotted in the background of the arena without any signs of ever getting injured. This could affect the interest of the fans who love to see the sanctity of the storyline taking priority.
But for now, undoubtedly, the rivalry between the two superstars continues in full swing. With the endpoint being predicted to be SummerSlam. So it would be interesting to see if McIntyre continues his losing streak or if he will be able to overpower the Cult of Personality and grab a win at SummerSlam. What do you think?
