It was the ending minutes of WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 when CM Punk made his return to the WWE. Despite the fans chanting his name all evening, when his music finally hit, the roof of the Allstate Arena blew off. Punk had returned to the WWE after nine long years and now, after 18 days, was seen at the WWE’s Performance Center.

During the last episode of Monday Night RAW, Punk signed on to the RAW brand. Hence, showing up and training at the PC makes perfect sense if he wants to get back into the squared circle.

The WWE’s Performance Center is a place where WWE talent trains during their downtime. This is also the place where rumors tend to start when certain stars are seen here. Punk was the latest to make the list of stars sighted at the Performance Center. This comes just 48 hours after he signed on to represent Monday Night RAW.

After appearing on SmackDown during the ‘Tribute to the Troops’ episode, Punk headed down to NXT. The NXT Deadline event was held in Orlando. Once done, he headed back to Cleaveland for RAW but soon returned to Orlando the very next day.

This is because he wanted to get some time in at the WWE Performance Center. According to reports by Fightful Select, Punk was backstage during the NXT TV taping. He did not make any appearance in the ring but was backstage with the crew and the NXT roster. According to the reports, this was not planned as a surprise by Punk for the NXT talent.

Who could be Punk’s first opponent?

While fans are aware, that CM Punk has been booked to perform at the Kia Forum on December 30 against Dominik Mysterio, this is not a televised match. This will take place during the WWE Live Holiday Tour.

The WWE will not repeat this match on during live coverage so there is no chance of a feud between Dominik and Punk. However, with tension building between Punk and Drew McIntyre, there could be a match waiting to happen.
