CM Punk finally returned to the WWE after several years in 2023. Due to a mishap after Royal Rumble, he went on a recovery hiatus and will now show his in-ring prowess at SummerSlam this year. Amidst all the drama that the 45-year-old is already engaged in, with entangled storylines, he was recently asked about his wife’s return to WWE.

The two used to work together in the Stamford-based company before Punk left the workplace in 2014. His wife AJ Lee competed for another year at the WWE before announcing her retirement in 2015. Since then, although the Chicago-based wrestler has been seen in the ring time and again, his wife has been a sight for sore eyes. Punk, however, wishes something different.

The “Best in the World” was present at the San Diego Comic-Con 2024. Ringside Collectibles had the opportunity to interview him at the ‘Mattel’ panel and the interviewer asked him about the potential of AJ Lee’s return to WWE under a ‘legends’ contract. Punk seemed interested, but he made it clear that the decision wasn’t up to him. It was rather up to his wife and the people sitting in the management positions at WWE.

While Punk said he didn’t want to meddle with his wife’s business, he also added, “Selfishly, yes. I would love to make out with my wife on television again.”

The couple has previously locked lips on screen during their time in WWE and Punk claims that he would love to do it again someday. However, due to the new guidelines that WWE is adhering to, it may be problematic and considered ‘NSFW’. This is evident, especially after the USA Network cut the footage from Monday Night Raw a few weeks ago when Liv Morgan almost kissed Dominik Mysterio on live TV.

While CM Punk and AJ Lee are committed to each other in a marriage, they have different work goals. Punk is still in the wrestling world, while his beloved wife is trying her luck in producing shows and movies. During the post-show media conference in Toronto after Money in the Bank 2024, the “Voice of the Voiceless” was asked about his wife’s potential return to the leading wrestling promotion. He gave a similar reply there as well, as he did during the SDCC interview.

Punk claimed that his wife is aware that getting back to wrestling is an option for her, but he doesn’t want to push her into making a decision, nor does he wish to pitch any ideas to the WWE management team in her favor. The 45-year-old also revealed at the conference that his wife has been working to create a production house of her own and has been having various meetings to give her business a good head start.

Being a supportive husband, CM Punk believes in AJ Lee’s potential. So, even though he would ‘selfishly’ want her to be back in the Stamford-based company so that they can indulge in some PDA on live TV and in the middle of the ring, it may not happen until AJ Lee herself makes up her mind to return.
