CM Punk has previously stated in interviews that the late great Roddy Piper is his all-time favorite. ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper passed away in 2015, but his legacy lives on forever. He inspired an entire generation. There was nobody quite like him in the professional wrestling scene.
Punk and Piper had some similarities as well! From being the best trash talkers on the mic to being very outspoken like ‘Hotrod’ himself, we can make comparisons to regard CM Punk as a ‘Modern-Day Roddy Piper.’
The Best In The World had narrated a story a few years ago on how ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper texted him once, pitching a tag team match at WrestleMania with Hotrod and CM Punk taking on John Cena and Hulk Hogan. As fans, we can only imagine what a grand match that would’ve been if it happened back in the day.

Seeing the top four of their generations collide would’ve been an epic encounter. Roddy Piper was one of the few great legends of the business that never held a World Championship in the WWF. From the iconic Piper’s Pit with André the Giant in the 80s to his final Piper’s Pit, Roddy Piper delivered every time with his actions and words.
Roddy Piper has left us, but his legacy continues to live on. Especially, when top guns of the game like CM Punk and Ronda Rousey remember the legend and pay their tributes.
