Is CM Punk's new agility a sign he's ready to dominate SummerSlam?

The WWE Universe was awaiting the groundbreaking return of the Seventh City Saint at SummerSlam 2024. Despite ruining Drew McIntyre‘s sure-shot wins several times, CM Punk didn’t get his hands on a full-fledged single match yet, as he was medically restricted following a grave tricep injury. However, now he’s finally on his way to get under the skin of the Scottish Warrior once again and the 45-year-old is making sure to leave no stone unturned to make it as seamless as possible. The latest viral clip of his rigorous training carries the strongest testament to it.

Punk made a storybook return to WWE after a decade at the Survivor Series to aid in Cody Rhodes‘ war game. Following a huge hype of a few weeks, he brought his mojo to the table during the Royal Rumble men’s battle. Despite delivering commendable performances throughout the match, Punk was taken out as the second last man survived, making it a Cody Rhodes game. But what marked it the worst was Punk tearing his triceps in the process.

However, he didn’t stop provoking his arch-nemesis, Drew McIntyre, even for a week. Starting from trading barbs over social media promos to verbally brutalizing each other on the stage, the deepest rivalry in the current era spread wings. As soon as Punk got the medical green light to wrestle in a single, the company tipped him against McIntyre for SummerSlam.

The amount of bad blood between them made the Raw general manager vest a condition in the match that sees Seth Rollins’ involvement as special referee. While it will certainly add more intrigue to the match, the real asset will still be Punk’s formidable stamina and physical tenacity that he continues to hon. In a video posted on X, Punk can be spotted leaving no stone unturned to train hard and prepare himself for the coming fight.
