CM Punk always hasn’t had the friendliest of relationships on the main roster in WWE. Randy Orton was one such star. Both wrestlers even faced off against each other at WrestleMania XXVII. To bring back old memories, WWE called in the former foes to sit beside each other and react to some old highlights during the latest episode of WWE Playback.

After reacting to the 2011 Mania event, the two talents declared something important about the backstage dynamic of the Stamford-based company moving forward. Not only did Orton confess his love for Punk, he also assumed a new role.

“The Best in the World” was already sitting in the room when his former foe was called in. The WWE legends greet each other and wish that their match isn’t mixed with other clips on the tape. After reacting to the whole video posted on YouTube, Orton and Punk stand up to leave only for the former to say, “Love you man, give me a hug. We’re buddies.

The 14-time WWE Champion adds, “Yeah, we’re the old buddies. We’re the old timers. Let’s go lead this locker room.” To this, CM Punk replies, “Let’s f**cking do it,” with an excited face.

According to a WWE Hall of Famer, there is currently no ‘locker room leader’ in WWE. While he is not sure about the same, he believes so because most of the top stars have their own trailers parked backstage. However, Orton and Punk’s interaction suggests that we might see them come together as a team, eventually.

If you look closely, you will notice that Punk doesn’t have a cast on either of his arms. Could this be a sign that CM Punk will be ready to wrestle at Mania this weekend?

What is CM Punk’s role at WrestleMania XL?

Before appearing on Monday Night Raw 03/18, CM Punk had not confirmed what he would do when the biggest PLE of the year arrived. Despite his tricep injury, the Chicago-based wrestler has agreed to appear at WrestleMania XL. When he arrived in Chicago to show up on the red brand, he announced that he would be present in Philadelphia this year. Eventually after some back and forth with Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre, he got the role of a special announcer for the World Heavyweight Title bout at Mania.

Considering the lack of his handcast and the conversation with Randy Orton, we might see some action from his end if we are lucky. But for now, he will surely be at the announcer’s table for at least one of the matches.
