As Maui, his motherland, has been dealing with the brunt of widespread wildfires, The Rock has been noted for launching major humanitarian efforts to help people suffering from the catastrophe. However, few people online have been accusing him of asking for money from the general public. Johnson recently took to social media to respond to these allegations.

The Rock urges people to donate
Recently, Johnson has been requesting everyone to donate whatever is possible for those affected by the wildfires. For this, a lot of people criticized him for asking for money from the less fortunate.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Johnson revealed that he kick-started the Peoples Fund of Maui to help people out there. He said that he donated $5 million alongside Oprah Winfrey, who donated another $5 million. A sum total of $10 million was donated by the two towards helping those affected by the Maui wildfires.
Johnson responds to the haters
“Checking in from MAUI Deadliest wildfires to hit America in 100 years. We’re meeting the IMMEDIATE NEED of the thousands of people & families who’s lives have been destroyed. We created the #PeoplesFundOfMaui where EVERY DOLLAR will GO DIRECTLY TO EVERY INDIVIDUAL affected by this tragedy. I donated $5 million. That cash will go directly to people affected -immediately. And plan to raise and donate much more.” This is the caption from Johnson on his Twitter, declaring openly that he is trying his best to help people who are suffering in Maui.

Since the wildfires started at the beginning of August, a lot of people from different industries such as Tony Khan, Jason Momoa, Oprah Winfrey, and many more have joined Johnson in his attempt to save his home.
