Will Charlotte Flair's return reignite the WWE women's division, or is it just more of the same?

WWE wrestler Charlotte Flair suffered a knee injury on December 8, 2023, on an innocuous edition of Friday Night SmackDown. As a result, she had to undergo surgery. While she is still absent from WWE programming, a WWE veteran revealed the status of Flair’s current recovery herself. Charlotte Flair provided an update on her injury rehab some time ago. She revealed that she had already returned to the gym just 14 days after undergoing the surgery.

Months later, Flair has shown incredible progress in her rehabilitation as she improves every day. The Queen shared that she was beating the time set for her knee rehabilitation after surgery and was even already training at the Performance Center. However, she will have to wait to make her return to the WWE ring.

A few pro wrestling news platforms have revealed the return timeline of the former WWE Women’s Champion. As per ViperReports and Pro Wrestling Nexus, Flair could make her return in November, with the speculated PLE of her return being WWE’s much-awaited Survivor Series. She could potentially insert herself into the SmackDown Women’s champion’s match in a bid to get into the title picture.

Sean Ross Sapp stated a similar timeline on Fightful Select’s Backstage Report podcast. There, he was asked about Charlotte Flair’s current recovery time. Sapp claimed that Flair tore three ligaments in her knee about eight months ago and that unrealistic expectations are often held about professional wrestlers with serious knee injuries. Given the severity of Flair’s injury, it is anticipated that she could be out of action for two to three more months.

With this new update on the Queen’s status, her return could be set for Survivor Series dates or for Royal Rumble 2025, depending on her recovery. However, it seems like the top female star already has an opponent in mind, as she recently shared her desire to face her in the ring. But who is the possible future opponent? Well, it’s none other than Roxanne Perez.

Have an interesting take?

Back in July, during an episode of NXT, Roxanne Perez had a promo where she mentioned different important female superstars who passed through the development brand, including Asuka, former WWE superstar Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair. The Prodigy emphasized The Queen, as she said that she had won 14 world championships and that her first match was 13 years ago. However, this last piece of information is wrong.

Through her social networks, Charlotte Flair responded to Roxanne Pérez’s promo. Ric Flair’s daughter first corrected her, as her first televised match in NXT was 11 years ago. She also expressed her desire to face her in a ring later on. She wrote, “You almost had it right. It’s been 11. But thank you! I really do have the best fans. 🫶🏻 Keep doing your thing. We will meet in the ring one day—I’m sure of it. 💪🏻 #WWENXT👑” So what do you think? Will we get to see a matchup between the two superstars? When do you think Flair could return?
