Roman Reigns sat atop the wrestling Universe, being the undisputed torchbearer of SmackDown for the past couple of years. Finally, the company creatively dethroned him back in WrestleMania 40 in a hard-hitting main event match with Cody Rhodes. Now, that isn’t the ultimate fate for the Tribal Chief going forward. According to a chunk of fans, a baby face turn lies ahead of the next chapter of Reigns’ WWE saga. But even if it happens, will it be as enticing as his heel gimmick was? 32-year-old rapper O’Shea Jackson Jr., the son of Ice Cube, didn’t think so.

With the new Bloodline in the making amidst the prolonged absence of Roman Reigns and The Rock, there are plenty of directions that the faction can go toward. But the idea of Roman Reigns’ transforming into a fan favorite seems to be the oddest among all and Jackson Jr. the wrestling enthusiast, who’s been a hard-core Tribal Chief fan, explained why.

Roman Reigns’ journey to the top has been quite unconventional. He underwent an abrupt positive change from being a loathed baby face to earning the utmost respect of the WWE Universe as one of the toughest villains. During Reigns’ first-ever run as a face, his gimmick, promo delivery, and everything was pretty bland, leading to intense backlash. The watershed moment of his storied career descended in 2020 when he turned heel. Just like The Rock, shifting into the negative image worked as a career savior for him.

In the same vein as millions of fans, Ice Cube’s son has seen it all, the ups, the downs, and everything in between in Reigns’ thrilling ride. And he doesn’t think a return to being a good guy will be something he can ever root for. To justify his stance, the rapper posted a clip of Reigns’ where he predicted everyone would acknowledge him the day he dropped off the title. The video features another clip of Rhodes from WrestleMania 40 where he acknowledged the drowning champion for the undisputed legacy he left behind.

The caption of the tweet reads, ‘I can’t do this positive s**t man. I miss rooting for the heel’

However, regardless of O’Shea Jackson Jr’s opinions, veterans like the Dutch Mantell have rallied for a babyface turn of Reigns.

Some reports suggested turning Reigns back into a babyface was a long-tipped plan of the company. In fact, initially, the primary aim was to elevate him to the level of Hulk Hogan or Bruno Sammartino one day. The trajectory of the time changed a lot with Reigns facing the betrayal of his cousins (The Usos), garnering support from another cousin, The Rock, and finally letting go of his historic title at the exaggerated WrestleMania Night.

According to the Dutch Mantel, a face turn awaits The Tribal Chief after a long and fruitful heel run. He believes the former WWE Undisputed Universal champion losing the authoritative status in his family tree was self-explanatory of this notion.

Also, with fans widely speculating The Rock vs Roman Reigns matchup to take place somewhere around WrestleMania next year, it made more sense.
