It is clear that Rey Mysterio is a true legend in the pro wrestling industry. So the expectations around his son Dominik Mysterio were always rather high. But his legendary career took an unexpected turn when his son finally stepped into the ring as a WWE superstar for the first time to a somewhat bland debut and a mixed reception from the public. However, a major curveball awaited the Hall of Famer.

Dominik Mysterio made a big splash by betraying his father and completely separating himself from his path by becoming a member of The Judgment Day and becoming a superstar who brings out the most negative reactions and boos from the public as soon as he steps into the ring. Both talents have not stopped facing each other antagonistically at every opportunity that has arisen, and Dom-Dom seems to have gotten another such opportunity when his father appeared on the Chris Van Vliet podcast and shared his thoughts on his son’s career. Something that generated a vehement reaction from Dominik Mysterio as he called his father a ‘bum’ in front of millions.

In a clip uploaded on Instagram by Chris Van Vliet, the WWE Hall of Famer talks about the career trajectory of Dominik Mysterio and how far he has come. He talked about having conversations with his son before his debut and how he expected to become tag team champions with him as babyfaces. However, nothing could have prepared him for the heel run that followed soon.

As he said, “I remember speaking to Dom, prior to him breaking in to WWE, when he was training. And you know, we would bullsh*t “Hey, imagine if you were to make it before I retire. You know, we can do a run together as tag team champions. We were not thinking heel terms. It was completely babyface, like being together. But everything happened so fast man! Everything just flourished so fast. And I remember telling him that.”

However, Rey reminiscing about his son, didn’t sit well with Dominik as he launched an attack aimed at his father.

Despite the negativity his son constantly showcases, Rey Mysterio further claimed that he is still proud of his son for what he has achieved. And while these were some touching words, Dom-Dom feels otherwise. He took to the comments to share some strong words as he wrote, “What a bum. I’m already better 🖕.” Well, that’s actually subjective Dom-Dom, but he has surely become one of the hottest heels in the WWE right now.

Even his father agrees that the heel run was an excellent decision. As during his appearance on JAXXTON PODCAST, Rey Mysterio spoke about the challenges Dominik Mysterio faced when debuting in WWE, making it clear that the comparisons between the two left him in a poor light. Furthermore, the comments didn’t help as they left him with little room for improvement. So he had to admit that betraying him and giving his character a 180° turn was the best possible decision.
