In a shocking turn of events on Wednesday, WWE released several top Superstars. This included former Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy. As the wrestling world tried to make sense of the issue, everyone was waiting for Murphy to comment on his release. And after a few hours of waiting, he finally broke his silence.

Buddy Murphy believes the world is yet to see his true potential
Buddy Murphy finally spoke about his release on Twitter. The Australian called his WWE tenure a “crazy ride” and added he put all his efforts in everything he did in the company.
He also expressed his displeasure at not getting adequate opportunities to wrestle. Of course, because creative seemingly had nothing for him.
He further added that he believes he hasn’t reached his peak yet, and the entire wrestling world will know why he’s called the ‘Best Kept Secret.’ Murphy also expressed gratitude for getting the opportunity to work with top talent like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins and revealed he learnt a lot from them.

Murphy’s last WWE appearance came on the Road to WrestleMania where he faced Cesaro on SmackDown in a bid to reunite with Seth as his disciple. However, the ‘Best Kept Secret’ did not appear on SmackDown again.
The next thing we heard of him was that he’s now released.
Murphy to AEW?
The 32-year-old is one of the finest wrestlers in the business today. His matches against the likes of Mustafa Ali, Aleister Black, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Cedric Alexander, etc. were all extraordinary.
Given his impressive in-ring work backed by decent promo skills, he would be an asset to any promotion.

Buddy Murphy has named AEW World Champion Kenny Omega as his dream opponent. Now that he’s released, it’s likely he could get a chance to get the dream match in AEW. Tony Khan would definitely pull out all the stops for this match to happen.
Although Murphy won’t wrestle under his WWE name, his former ring name Matt Silva has a nice ring to it. Let’s see what the future holds.
