Can Gage Goldberg live up to his father's legacy with Bron Breakker's guidance?

Bron Breakker has proven to be one of the most dominant newcomers on WWE’s main roster in recent years. Breakker debuted in February of this year on SmackDown, achieving a resounding victory in his debut on the blue brand against Dante Chen. During the 2024 Draft, Breakker was transferred to RAW and has been an unstoppable force ever since. In just a few months since his debut on the main roster, The Wolf Dog has charted a path of carnage. Punishing stars like Ricochet and Ilja Dragunov, he is on the cusp of savoring the glory of the Intercontinental Championship.

Since his arrival on the main roster, Breakker has only been cleanly defeated in singles bouts once. Sami Zayn beat him at the Money in the Bank event for his Intercontinental title. Bron Breakker defeated Ilja Daragunov on RAW and earned another shot at Zayn’s WWE Intercontinental Championship at WWE’s next PLE, SummerSlam. This could emerge as the stage for Breakker’s first major title wins on the main roster and begins his rise to the top of WWE Mountain. But did you know that before breaking out as a WWE superstar, he was a football player?

In fact, it was because of his football experience that he helped Gage A.J. Goldberg, the son of WWE and WCW legend Bill Goldberg, got drafted by the Alabama Buffaloes, where he plays under Deion Sanders. It’s not us saying this, but Goldberg himself. In his recent podcast appearance on the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, he revealed what he feels about Bron Breakker and how he feels about the former NXT champion getting compared to him.

Have an interesting take?

Speaking on Corey Graves’ After the Bell podcast, the Hall of Famer revealed that having his son appear from time to time in McMahon’s company programming is a realistic choice for him. “It’s highly possible that that will hopefully be an option for him,” said the former WWE Universal champion. “I do believe it’s inbred in him to have the love and passion for sports. The physicality of football, the physicality of playing catcher, and wrestling. They’re all the same, and it’s all about opportunities. I want him to follow his dream,” he said.

It should be noted that Bobby Lashley defeated the former WCW star at SummerSlam 2021 in a match without disqualification.
