Let’s face it, Bill Goldberg had one of the most impressive winning streaks in pro wrestling. WWE made sure that his character received immense protection and perks when he joined the Stamford-based promotion. Aside from getting a massive push, the former World Champion took home a massive paycheck. His salary and perks from his WWE deal did not sit well with other stars. Moreover, Goldberg did not even wrestle in many house shows like other wrestlers.

While speaking to Cafe de René, Maven recalled how Golberg received massive heat backstage due to his success. Maven said,  “I think he was making like three million dollars and wasn’t wrestling house shows because, when he was, I was tagging with him, all I did was go out, like Evolution would go out to the ring, and then my music would hit, and I would come out. Now mind you, this was after wrestling earlier in the night, and then I would get halfway down and then Goldberg’s music would hit, and like a dumba** I would turn around. They would horde me from behind and then literally 20 minutes of nothing but heat,”

Maven further added that the agents instructed him not to perform any offense during their tag match as they wanted to save it all for Goldberg. WWE undeniably did a good job at making Goldberg look good during his first run in the company. Nonetheless, the former Universal Champion was despised for working less and earning more.

We should also note that Maven did not harbor any ill will toward Goldberg. In fact, he stated that he admired the fact that Goldberg got such a massive deal with WWE.

Anyway, the former Universal Champion made his groundbreaking return in 2016 and feuded with his arch-rival Brock LesnarAlthough the Hall of Famer is currently not signed to WWE, he claims he deserves a respectable retirement match before he caps off his career.

Goldberg is angling to get a proper sendoff

Goldberg’s last match saw him concede defeat to Roman Reigns in Saudi Arabia. The fact that WWE did not deliver on their promise has made Goldberg adamant about ending his career on his own terms.

Furthermore, Tony Khan expressed his willingness to work with Goldberg in the future. By the looks of things, the 56-year-old wrestler may very well receive his retirement match at the Jacksonville-based promotion.
