The stellar rise of Brock Lesnar in combat sports is an inspiration to many. In a career spanning two decades, there’s not much that The Beast has not accomplished. He has not only captured the imagination of the fans but also some of his colleagues. Lesnar has been on a path of domination that many can only dream to achieve. People not only take motivation from his in-ring skills but also from something as little as the theme music associated with him. A former WWE champion certainly feels so as he revealed in the past.

The superstar in question is none other than The Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre. He had revealed in a past interview with GQ how listening to Lesnar’s theme music motivated him. McIntyre was talking about the build-up to his career-defining main event clash against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36. He was also asked about his state of mind before the monumental encounter.
Finding inspiration from Brock Lesnar
The current Raw superstar responded, “I drove to the performance center in Orlando, Florida. With the situation and the way things were, nobody else could come in the building, so my wife couldn’t even come with me to watch.”
“In the car, I was listening to a mix of Oasis, Guns N’ Roses, and Johnny Cash. I actually listened to Brock’s theme music: I normally listen to it when I’m struggling on my heaviest sets in the gym and suddenly I’d be able to squat more than I ever have in my life. I’ve done that for years.” added the WWE superstar.
It is worth noting that this was the period when the world was battling the Covid-19 pandemic. Like every other sport, all the WWE events took place behind closed doors in the absence of fans. McIntyre won the match against Lesnar convincingly. And in the process became the first British wrestler to hold the prestigious WWE Championship. Performing in an empty arena without fans made his accomplishments all the more impressive.
The redemption story of Drew McIntyre
It was not a simple rise to the top for McIntyre. He made his WWE debut way back in 2009. Much like Lesnar in his early days, he was also billed as the next face of the company. But Scot failed to live up to the expectations in his first run with the promotion. He was pushed into lower-card oblivion and later released from WWE altogether in 2014.

McIntyre returned to the independent circuit as well as had a stint with TNA during his time away from WWE. He polished his in-ring skills and returned to NXT in 2017. McIntyre won the NXT Championship and re-entered the main roster in 2018. A run that culminated in him being pushed to the very top of the promotion. He has since become a top performer in WWE and is a regular feature in the top card.
