Shelton Benjamin used to wrestle at the University of Minnesota in his rookie days and achieved considerable feats there. The two-time All-American ended up holding the third position in the NCAA heavyweight division. After finishing graduation, he kicked his heels as an assistant coach, and during that time he first came across a young Brock Lesnar and became close friends, on and off the screen.
Although it all started with a grain of salt, the duo billed as The Minnesota Stretching Crew won three tag team championships in developmental.
Sitting for an interview with Chris Van Villet, Benjamin detailed the unforgettable experience of working closely with the legend. ”Brock Lesnar is absolutely on that list because Brock is a freak. Uh, he’s a different kind of animal, but he is, he is. Like I think I’ve said this to you before. He’s the most phenomenal athlete that I’ve ever personally seen”, he noted.
