Professional wrestling is not an industry that just puts a physical toll on the wrestlers’ bodies. The stars performing year around are also mentally tough as they are away from their family and bear all the pain. However, not all pro wrestlers tend to love this life and Brock Lesnar is one of those. He quit WWE in 2004 with a hectic schedule being one of the reasons. Moreover, he once shed light on how fans think WWE stars live their glamorous life, which isn’t always true.

Brock Lesnar once narrated the brutal truth of being a pro wrestler

The Beast Incarnate is not a huge fan of WWE’s round-the-year schedule. He experienced the toll of the same during his first run with the company. Hence, when Brock Lesnar signed a deal in 2012, he made sure to have a light schedule and only matches at select shows.

Lesnar narrated, “Life on the road was wild. I was flying to a new city every day, and living the life of a rock star. Everywhere I went, people knew me. I was having a great time, and who wouldn’t? Money. Girls. More girls. More money. The only problem was that none of it was real. It wasn’t a life. It was killing time.”

He added. “I would look around the locker room before shows and think how lucky I was. I was probably the youngest guy there, and I was headed straight to the top. The other guys in that room weren’t so lucky. They were trapped in the life. They had no way out.”

“They were drinking and popping pain pills like they were going out of style, and they were miserable because they had lost their faith along with their families—all they had was the Federation,” The Beast further wrote in his book.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion also talked about Ric Flair. A young Lesnar looked at The Nature Boy and said to himself, he doesn’t want to wrestle till the age Flair did

When The Beast Incarnate looked at Ric Flair, he wondered how much family time Naitch has missed for the business. Being on the road doesn’t let WWE stars be there at their home all the time and Lesnar remembered Curt Hennig aka Mr. Perfect’s words.

In the book, The Beast mentioned, once Mr. Perfect told him, “Get in to get out.” Lesnar didn’t want to push himself till his 60s in the business. He wanted to spend time with his family and also live his life outside the ring too.

Today Lesnar has accomplished the same and is still an active WWE star while he is nearing his 50s. From thinking he never wanted to wrestle this long to enjoying his current WWE run at 45 years old, Lesnar has changed his thinking process. There is no doubt he is going to retire soon but clearly not in the near future.
