Roman Reigns, Edge, and Daniel Bryan have been embroiled in a three-way rivalry since Elimination Chamber. Bryan has been trying to get his hands on the Universal Title while Edge is determined to wrestle Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.

To give all three Superstars a fair chance, Adam Pearce announced that the WrestleMania match between Reigns and Edge will now be a triple threat showdown, including Daniel Bryan.

Even though this was a popular speculation, Pearce made it official on SmackDown: March 26, 2021. He came out to the ring with Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, and Paul Heyman, while Edge and Bryan shortly joined them.

There are two reasons this match is now a triple threat – Firstly, Daniel Bryan deserves an uninterrupted and fair title shot, and second, Roman Reigns will defend the Universal Title only once at WrestleMania

While this news did not make ‘The Tribal Chief’ or ‘The Rated-R Superstar’ happy, Bryan seemed satisfied even though initially he did not want to get involved in the Reigns-Edge storyline.

The segment ended in chaos. Bryan attacked Edge, Reigns took down Bryan with a Superman punch, Edge took down Reigns and thrashed both Reigns and Bryan with a steel chair.

Roman Reigns, Edge, and Daniel Bryan had a previous face-off

The last time all three of them were in the ring together was at Fastlane 2021. Roman Reigns was defending his title against Daniel Bryan while Edge was the special enforcer.

Maybe, Bryan would have tapped out Roman Reigns when he locked the champion in the Yes Lock. Unfortunately, Edge’s interruption rendered it impossible.

This was the first time Edge snapped and used the steel chair on both Reigns and Bryan mercilessly.

Apart from Fastlane 2021, another chance Daniel Bryan had to take over the championship was right after the Elimination Chamber match. Unfortunately, it did not work in his favor since Roman Reigns took advantage of Bryan’s exhaustion by getting inside the ring immediately after the Elimination Chamber match.

Coming to Edge, after he won the Royal Rumble Men’s match, he had the liberty to choose his opponent for WrestleMania. After waiting patiently and scouting the champions, Edge finally challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship title.

Considering he wanted to wrestle Reigns for the championship, it’s understandable why he didn’t want Bryan to win the championship prior to WrestleMania or a triple threat match.
