Another release by WWE! But this time it’s by request. As per news, WWE has released Ric Flair upon his request.
Wrestling Inc and Fightful have confirmed the same.
It’s unknown why Flair requested for the release, but as of now he is no longer working with the company.

The WWE Legend had resigned with WWE last year, and was involved in a storyline with his daughter, Charlotte Flair, and Lacey Evans.
Charlotte Flair had asked Ric Flair to go home
In his last storyline with the company, he was working alongside Lacey Evans. However, the company had booked him in a romantic angle with the young pro-wrestler.
The storyline progressed with segments where Charlotte Flair expressed how humiliated she was with her father’s doing and the WWE Legend completely dismissing his daughter’s feelings.

Soon, Lacey Evans announced she was pregnant (she actually was). The company involved this factor in the storyline and created a segment or two which portrayed Ric Flair as the father of Evans’ unborn child.
Finally, the father and daughter cut a backstage promo where she told him to go home. The Queen informed WWE’s ‘The Nature Boy’ that it was time to leave WWE, and let her shine. Moral of the promo was – it was her time, and he had to let go of his wrestling days.
That was the last time the WWE Universe witnessed Ric Flair cutting promos or segments.
Neither of The Flairs highly appreciated the storyline
In separate interviews, both of them revealed that they weren’t fond of the romantic angle between Ric Flair and Lacey Evans.
The WWE Legend expressed that he didn’t know Lacey Evans well enough when they were booked in the storyline. In fact, he found himself in awkward situations frequently.
However, while working with Evans he realized she is a pro-wrestler with immense potential and wished her luck in future endeavours.

Coming to his release, it’s not as shocking as the other recent release – the release of Bray Wyatt.
Of course, Ric Flair will not return to in-ring wrestling. He’s of an age where any form of physical action may put him in danger. Nevertheless, the WWE Universe can expect to see him on interviews, hear him on podcasts, and interact with other pro-wrestlers.
