Tonight, WWE made history with Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks. Not only was it the second-ever WrestleMania to feature women as the main eventers, but it was also the first time two African American women main-evented the pinnacle of sports entertainment.

Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks go long back as the match was among the first ones to be scheduled for WM 37. Belair earned the right to face the champion of her choice when she won the Women’s Royal Rumble 2021.

With the claim of putting the “EST in WrestleMania,” Belair and Banks worked together to make the rivalry plausible on SmackDown. Both Superstars imbued a similar ambition and passion for the squared circle, as fans became more engrossed in the feud.

Eventually, WWE announced their match as the main event for Night 1 of WrestleMania 37. The match was destined to be a great one, no matter who came out victorious.

The match had an emotional start as Belair was visibly in tears. The two women went back and forth in a battle of equals. Sasha sent Bianca out of the ring to buy some time.

Banks slammed the EST into the ring post before slamming her from the ring. However, Bianca countered in an amazing example of strength as she put Sasha up and hovered her to the ring.

Following this, a dumbfounded “The Boss” tried to take advantage as she used Belair’s braid against her. Banks tried to use this strategy once again, but Belair countered and slammed her into the ring post.

Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair put on a stellar match

Belair went ahead with back-to-back offenses like a vertical suplex, standing shooting star, and a moonsault. However, during the last move, Banks put her knees up and impacted Belair’s ribs.

The two near falls of the match took place when Sasha hit Belair with a springboard DDT, and the latter happened right after Banks hit a Meteora.

Sasha, visibly frustrated, eventually used Belair’s hair to lock her into the Bank Statement. However, after some time, Belair recovered and hit a moonsault from the top rope for another near fall.

Now determined, Belair hit Sasha with her hair whip and hit a KOD to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the first time in her career. The stadium erupted in fireworks as the first night of WrestleMania 37 came to an end.
