Over the years, WWE has seen its fair share of weird storylines. However, nothing can match Edge vs Booker T at WrestleMania X8 that revolved around a Japanese hair commercial!

In a recent interview on ‘The Hall Of Fame’ podcast, the two Hall Of Famers discussed the root of that random storyline.

“Bruce Prichard, he came to me and he said, ‘Hey Book, you and Edge, you know, WrestleMania, this could be huge. How about a hair match?’” Booker says.

“They came to me and they said, ‘You and Booker ‘Mania,’” replies Edge. “I was like ‘Hell yeah!’ Because I love working with Booker and to do it on that stage, ‘You kidding me? At my hometown, 12 years after being in the audience for WrestleMania 6? Yeah.”

“Because I know what you and I can do together,” says Edge. “Then they said ‘But we’re thinking of having a base round of a shampoo endorsement.’ I went ‘Hold up, what? Can we pump the breaks there ‘cause wait, what? We’re gonna be fighting over a Japanese shampoo commercial?’”

“I wasn’t at a point where I felt like I could say ‘Oh no’, so it became what it became,” admits Edge.

The match itself was set up due to the budding stars of the company having nothing noteworthy on their resumes.

The Japanese Hair commercial was just an attempt to give these faces a shot at the big leagues.

Edge recalls his feelings during the match

“Kind of my favorite part was the fact that some guy is walking across going there fighting over shampoo with a big sign as we’re busting our a** and we’re lightning each other up to the point where one time Booker hit me and my toes felt electric,” says Edge.

“That’s how hard we were releasing each other. It’s like ‘Wham Whoo! My toes are on fire!’ So I think we’re trying to dump the fact that we’re fighting over shampoo.”

If you watched the match, you may recall Edge’s cringe Spinaroonie attempt towards the end.

Recalling the moment, Edge talks about what he went through trying to learn that move.

“I had a strawberry on my face for trying the Spinaroonie. Are you kidding? It was horrible,” admits Edge. “It was possibly the worst Spinaroonie ever and I thought, ‘Might as well do it at WrestleMania.’”

Edge vs Booker T at WrestleMania X8 certainly went down as the funniest and most uncalled for feud ever.

Although Edge did end up winning and getting the commercial, we don’t think he really enjoyed the prize.
