The greatest professional wrestler of all time was the first two-time WWE Hall of Fame, inductee. He has won the world championship in WWE 16 times and the WCW World Heavyweight Champion 6 times. There is no doubt that he was indeed the greatest and was endowed with the title of ‘Wrestler of the Year’, six times. 

Ric Flair is absolutely in love with food. Alas, it is mostly the things you love that are taken away from you! In June 2018, he was hospitalized and had to undergo emergency surgery in Georgia. There was an obstructive piece in his bowel and it had to be removed. There were several complications involved and it resulted in kidney failure that required dialysis. He finally had a successful surgery and started living a healthier life. Recently, his Q&A video was put up on YouTube and he shared some of his guilty pleasures with his fans.

In a recent video that was posted on the official YouTube Page of Men’s Health, the WWE veteran Rick Flair was asked about his diet and workout regime and how he managed to stay so fit even at this age. There was a rather interesting turn in the video where he was asked about his food preferences in different situations. 

To begin with, Ric was asked about maintaining his food habits while he is traveling. He said, “It’s hard. Most of the hotels there will have chicken stuff like that, a lot of sauce on my food to this point. It can be genetically healthy but I have to have a sauce on it.” He was then asked about his favorite sauce, and he said, “My favorite sauce is barbecue.”

Knowing the foodie that Flair used to be before his surgery, he was asked about the food that he could have all day long, which is his comfort food. To that, very excitedly, he replied, “Go to comfort food? My go-to comfort food is marinara sauce tons of meatballs and angel hair pasta. I could eat that all day long. That is my cheat cheat cheat night.” In the video, Ric also revealed what helped him survive the deadly injury that he had suffered. Continue reading to find out what his source of motivation was.

What brought Flair back to life?

In the video, while answering one of the questions, the WWE veteran was reminded of the dreadful surgery that he had to got through. He said, “I was at a bar drinking with a friend of mine from Texas. I woke up 31 days later and my whole intestine ruptured.” After being admitted to the hospital, things started deteriorating. To this, he added, “I have a septic which is the bad part of the infection giving a 10% chance to live.”

Ric Flair, the best-known wrestler too had a moment of weakness. But what brought him to fight against it was his will to never give up. He says, “To never give up. And that’s I think at the end of the day that’s the most important thing, just never give up.” With hope and belief perhaps every battle can be won!
