Bobby Lashley‘s WWE contract ran out sometime around the 10th of August this year. With his term in the Stamford-based company coming to an end, fans were expecting him to renew the contract and get back in the game. While he might be re-entering the wrestling business, Lashley is surely not coming to WWE again.
This is evident because of the move that the leading wrestling promotion played just now. Despite serving WWE for so long and keeping its fans entertained, Lashley is no more part of the same family that once he used to work with.

A few weeks ago, there were reports about Bobby Lashley and a few other stars getting removed from the ‘internal roster’ as their contracts come to a close. This would have meant that the wrestler wouldn’t be back for any kind of appearances once he walks out of the company; unless there is a new contract.
If you go to the official website of the Stamford-based promotion to check the superstar section, you will find Bobby Lashley only under the WWE Alumni section. This means that the company has let him go following the expiry of his contract.

With his contract out of the way, the wrestler can now choose to move on to greener pastures. A switch to AEW is mooted. Whether Tony Khan opens his checkbook to sign the marquee stars remains to be seen. So far, his future is resting uncertain, but maybe exploring the past can help us determine what happens further.

In a podcast episode, Dutch Mantell discussed the reason why Lashley has left the WWE roster. The WWE veteran claims that the star is indeed experienced in the ring and over with the fans. However, there is a ‘shelf life’ on wrestlers according to Mantell. And if he is to be believed, Bobby Lashley has crossed his shelf life in the wrestling business. This means that the creative department of the leading wrestling promotion didn’t know what to do with him anymore. After the Hurt Business was dismantled, there wasn’t much that he was part of, forcing him to eventually stay off camera.

After a long time off the camera, Lashley is no longer part of the roster. While the shelf life thing may hold a kernel of truth, some older wrestlers continue to hold the same weight as they did earlier. So, maybe the 48-year-old just needs to make his appearance in wrestling scarce for fans and the creative team to be able to appreciate him better. This is something that may be possible on the AEW roster because Tony Khan is already criticized for not using some of the signed talents enough. The former WWE Champion could exactly be the star that he needs on his side.
