During the main event of WWE SummerSlam held on August 03, 2024, Jacob Fatu had a shocking moment when he executed his characteristic “splash” from the third rope on Cody Rhodes. After the course of the fight, Fatu tried to sell a leg injury after the move. However, the situation got out of hand.

At the end of the fight, a referee had to help him out of the arena. After the event, he was seen wearing an orthopedic boot. This raised concerns about the severity of the injury. Recently Fightful Select has reported that Jacob Fatu planned to sell a leg injury after his splash in the main event. But it is not known if it was supposed to be to the extent as seen on television.

The status of The Samoan Werewolf’s injury is yet to be confirmed. However, his participation in future events could be affected depending on the severity of his situation. So this can be a major blow to the WWE. The Stamford-based promotion would have surely deployed him as a key figure in the storyline involving Roman Reigns and The Bloodline 2.0. A matchup involving Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes facing off against Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu.

This is the dream matchup that according to the Wrestling Observer podcast could’ve taken place or still can if Fatu is not legitimately injured. “You know, it’s too f**king bad that Fatu got hurt because there’s not a lot of matches. Tag team matches you could headline a pay-per-view with. F**king Roman Reigns and Cody versus Jacob Fatu and…Tonga. Tama Tonga. For the tag team championships. You could headline a pay-per-view with that match.”

Fatu’s WWE debut was notable as he immediately joined Solo Sikoa‘s Bloodline and showed his might by attacking Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. Thus, establishing himself as an intimidating figure on the SmackDown. His previous accomplishments and impressive physical presence have cemented his reputation in the wrestling industry. So it looks like fans will have to miss him for a while since he will be out of the ring because of a legitimate injury or for a storyline being set by the WWE. But what about his tag title that he recently won?

The latest edition of SmackDown from Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, caused a major upset when Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga of The Bloodline defeated DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) to be crowned the new WWE Tag Team Champions. This result marked the end of a short reign for DIY. They had just clinched the title a few weeks earlier by defeating A-Town Down Under on the July 5 episode of SmackDown.

Jacob Fatu replaced Tonga Loa and joined Tama Tonga in a gauntlet match. They won it all to become the number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships. Little did anyone know that this alliance would result in the victory that gave them the gold. But now that Fatu is out injured, the WWE might book DIY to reclaim their title since Fatu was a major protagonist in their earlier fight. But now that the main brute of the team is out, and possible interference by Jimmy and Uso in the book of speculations, it is possible that the Bloodline might lose their tag titles.
