One of the things that McMahon did that truly touched the hearts and souls of the public was his 9/11 speech. It felt very out-of-character but was true to his spirit as an American citizen. He shouted the battle cry that mixed his patriotic feeling with that of the American Dream itself. It was one of the best moments that showcased McMahon’s love for his country.

Vince McMahon remembers the time when he gave a speech after the 9/11 attacks, back in 2001

In a video released on the WWE YouTube channel last year, Vince McMahon reflected on his 9/11 speech. He said, “One of our rights is the freedom of expression. And that’s one of the things we were fighting for that night. To be able to express ourselves, to be able to say to our enemies, ‘You did what you did, but we’re going beyond that.”

“Here’s the spirit, here’s the emotion, the fabric of America and we’re going to show it to you.’ I wish everyone could experience that. Wow, that was the most powerful yet humbling experience in and out of the ring.

Since he usually comes out to ruin the babyface wrestler’s night on WWE TV, this felt different and impactful. This speech filled the hearts of the weeping audience with determination and an energetic spirit. It was one of the best ways to open WWE SmackDown after such a causality had stricken the public with fear.
