Goldberg was a massive hit in the WCW promotion. However, when Vince McMahon bought out its competition, several WCW superstars started working under the enormous umbrella of WWE, and the fans got to witness multiple dream matches.
However, because of a contractual flaw, Goldberg did not show up in WWE immediately after the buy-out. He eventually made his debut in WWE on the March 31st, 2003 episode of Raw.
The moment he arrived in the WWE, the WWE Universe went into a frenzy and started imagining Goldberg going up against every big star of the company. Though Goldberg fought some big names, he recently admitted that the reason he got success in WWE was because of The Rock.

The WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg recently appeared on the WWE Network show ‘Ruthless Aggression,’ where he talked about a lot of pivotal moments in his career. And he mentioned the name of the former WWE champion, The Rock, and said that it was because of The Rock that he got an immense push in the WWE.

Goldberg is thankful to The Rock
‘Berg had a brief initial run in the pro-wrestling business from 1997 to 2004. However, when he came to WWE in 2003, The Rock was playing a heel and the company needed an over-the-top babyface to defeat him.
“Coming from WCW to WWE and making that splash, it had to be with the right person. He [The Rock] was instrumental in my success immediately in the WWE,” he said.
The two titans of the industry faced each other on the Backlash PPV, where the WWE Universe witnessed Goldberg in action for the first time.

After countless near-falls, Goldberg speared Rock straight into the canvas for the three count.
