SmackDown tonight descended upon our screen, coming back straight from a fun weekend at Clevland. We have multiple stellar title exchanges during the biggest Summer Party of the year and it’s boiling build-up. However, it seemed WWE couldn’t really move on from the erstwhile reality of the division as IWC spotted a massive botch on SmackDown tonight.
WWE missed changing the tag team title name to the current champions’
The Bloodline has been on a tear for a long and brought out their best at SummerSlam night. Despite Sikoa losing his Undisputed world title-winning dream, and getting rowdy treatment from a returning Roman Reigns, a few days back, elsewhere in the faction, Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga brought gold home. The terrifying duo unleashed havoc on DIY on the August 2nd episode of the blue brand. While Ciampa and Gargano are supposed to raise a rematch demand in due time, they’re no longer the champions. But their name (DIY) was seen engraved on the SmackDown title to date. A fan called out SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis for the mishap.

We need to see how Jacob Fatu reacts to this botch upon his return from injury and if WWE pays attention to the botch and makes it up shortly or not.

At SummerSlam 2024, Fatu put on a formidable performance throughout the main event match. However, in a bit of a slipshod, he injured his legs. While the Samoan Werewolf went to help Solo Sikoa in the Bloodline Rules match against Cody Rhodes, the latter repeatedly escaped. Finally, Fatu handed him a desperate big Samoan Splash through the announcement table but ended up getting his feet stuck into it. He was clearly in pain and unable to move. While the nature and intensity were still unknown, Triple H told to check in on him.

On the 8/9 episode of SmackDown, WWE has officially addressed Fatu’s shattering injury. During the opening segment of the show, when Solo confronted Cody, the American Nightmare noted Solo Sikoa was unable to handle business and made Fatu get hurt.
It will be interesting to see if the injury is real or if it is merely WWE’s plan to allow more time and space for Reigns and Sikoa alone on TV.
