WWE’s long history has been divided into eras based on the content offered by the company during a given period, while also considering generational changes. Fans have often focused on naming a wrestler who best represents each era. For example, in recent decades, the most considered name is John Cena. However, when it comes to the Attitude Era, many are torn between choosing The Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin. The two ran the era, which is considered by many as the greatest in WWE history.
In more recent years, Roman Reigns has clearly been regarded as the face of the company. This is not only due to his reign lasting over three years but also because of the entertaining storylines in which he has been the protagonist. During a recent interview with Club Shay Shay, John Cena spoke about the much-debated comparison between Roman Reigns and The Rock.
The Bostonian seems to have no doubts. He named the Tribal Chief the greatest of all time, preferring him to Dwayne Johnson, with numbers to back up his claim. Cena acknowledged that while he has a lot of respect for other superstars for their work ethic and the sacrifices they made, Roman Reigns debuted directly under the spotlight, unlike The Rock or Cena himself, who started from the low to mid-cards. This meant that Reigns faced almost no margin for error and constant scrutiny from the start.

Despite all this, The Tribal Chief has been a driving force behind WWE’s stock rising from $11 to $117 since 2012—something that truly proves Reigns as the GOAT of WWE. “[The] Rock would be second [greatest of all time] ’cause [The] Rock did the same thing in the ’90s, but this is the one time I can say this, ’cause [The] Rock is always number one. Roman’s numbers have been better than Dwayne’s.”

Well, the numbers don’t lie, and not many would argue against the fact that the Original Tribal Chief is indeed a face that would be on the Mount Rushmore of pro wrestling in time to come. However, that spot will surely be reserved for Cena as well. As the 16-time World Champion, he carried the company on his back, especially when top stars like Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock left the promotion. In fact, if it weren’t for Cena, WWE might have dropped in ratings and never secured the Netflix deal that would truly change its landscape. So it’s no wonder that when WWE debuts on Netflix, Cena is all geared up to be on the show.

Cena expressed his excitement about the new agreement between WWE and Netflix. He highlighted the importance of this event for the company and his desire to be a part of this historic moment. “I can tell you I’ll be there for the debut. I think it’s 1/6. I love the two companies, WWE and Netflix, and it’s an event that I will not miss. I will be there.”
