WWE Hall of Famer Edge was one of the 12 contestants battling it out for the newly unveiled WWE World Heavyweight Championship. After Seth Rollins had emerged as the title contender from RAW, it was time for SmackDown to have its winner, who would face The Visionary on May 27 in Saudi Arabia. The stage was set for six SmackDown talents, including Edge- who had a greater motivation than the others. Well, he was fighting for a title that he was forced to relinquish 12 years ago due to injuries.

Yet, Edge couldn’t make it past the first round, let alone challenge the 36-year-old at the Jeddah Superdome on Night of Champions. After his disheartening loss, his wife and WWE superstar Beth Phoenix, and fans rallied behind the Rated R Superstar on social media.

While this one compared it with the ill fate of another Canadian wrestling legend: “He deserves another championship run before he retires.wwe screwed him like they screwed Bret Hart and sting.”

Edge’s athleticism left this fan in awe: “The things he does at 49 years of age with so many injuries and his career ending injury are truly outstanding. I feel blessed to be witnessing his comeback. He is a true role model and has Inspired so many people.”
