After flirting with the idea of an early retirement from wrestling, following a career threatening injury, Ettore Ewen, who goes by the moniker Big E, has provided an update about his future at WWE.
The 285-pound star injured his neck in a match with Ridge Holland during an episode of SmackDown on 11th March. Holland’s belly-to-belly suplex didn’t go as planned as the 8x Tag Team Champion (two RAW and six SmackDown championships), landed awkwardly.
Four months after the accident, the 2x Intercontinental Champion told TMZ Sports “wrestling doesn’t make sense right now” as he was recuperating from the injury. Meanwhile, the former champion has provided an update about his return to the WWE.

According to These Urban Times, The New Day member is excited to return. This shows a change in his stance from his previous interview.
Will Big E return in March?
March 2023 will mark a year of Big E’s injury. Though the wrestler hasn’t promised a 100 percent return to the WWE arena, he has spoken about a wait-and-watch approach and taking the “best decision” for himself.
The injury left the wrestler with a broken C1 bone. Speaking about getting back in the ring, he said, “I want to make sure my C1 is rock solid.”
This isn’t the first time an injury has forced Big E to reconsider his life. During his stint as a football player at the University of Iowa, he sustained several injuries which botched his NFL chances. Fortunately for WWE fans, it allowed the Master of the Five Count to gravitate towards pro wrestling.
“For me, you know, being in the ring wasn’t the same as playing football, having my hand in the dirt, but it still filled that athletic void,” he said on December 19th at the State Farm Arena.
Even though he isn’t fully sure about his own return to wrestling, the nearly 300-pounder is keeping a positive attitude towards life.
He recently attended the NBA match between Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks, where he discussed wrestling with Atlanta’s John Collins. WWE fans would be hoping for a positive update from the 36-year-old after March.

Big E reveals the name of future tag team partner
During his stay with the WWE, Ewen has ruled the tag team scene with other members of The New Day. From getting booed to becoming a fan favorite, Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods’ journey has been nothing short of phenomenal.
While the group has achieved a lot of success in the past, Big E named a superstar he would want to pair with next.
When asked who he would like to partner with from the female wrestlers, Big E was quick to respond, “Oh Bianca [Belair], Bianca. Do you see what that woman does in the ring? That’s an athlete. She’s ridiculous, but she can do it all.” He also praised Belair for being “authentic”.
