Before Marrying Brock Lesnar, Sable Made an Iconic Mark on Playboy Magazine Which Irked Her Ex-Husband Marc Mero

Female WWE superstars posing for Playboy magazine are not an uncommon occurrence.

Former wrestlers such as ‘The Ninth Wonder of The World’ Chyna and Torrie Wilson have appeared on the cover of the men’s magazine. The female performers were previously not known for their in-ring talents but for their endeavors beyond the promotion.

Former WWE superstar Rena Marlette aka Sable also posed for Playboy back in 1999, with that particular edition among the highest-selling of the magazine. She was in wedlock with the former wrestler Mero at the time. Sable was a popular face in WWE during the Attitude Era.

She has been married to ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar since 2006, after calling it quits on her wrestling career. Marc Mero stated in an interview in 2021 on ‘Its My House’ podcast that his ex-wife’s decision to appear for a Playboy photoshoot was not the right choice.

Mero said, “At the time it was a discussion that her and I had that we decided to do that you know, Horrible decision you know you look back on life you say oh my gosh what was I thinking you know what’s done is done you move on you make mistakes in life and hopefully those mistakes become learning experiences. It was not a good decision to make for our life, our marriage, our marriage, and everything else.”

Mero performed in WCW as well as in WWE in the 1990s. He had a relatively successful career in the promotions, winning the WCW Television Championship thrice and the WWE Intercontinental Championship once. In addition to that, he also had a stint with TNA, now known as Impact Wrestling, for around a year.

Mero and Sable spent 10 years of married life before they opted to split in 2004. She entered into a romantic relationship with WWE legend Brock Lesnar and later ended up marrying him.

The Conqueror has always credited his wife for her unconditional support during his successful career. Sable discontinued her stint with WWE since 2004 before her marriage with Lesnar.

However, she made a few appearances along with her husband in the New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2007. She hasn’t been near the squared circle since and prefers to stay out of the spotlight. Presumably enjoying her time on the sidelines and spending quality time with family.

Marc Mero’s comments back in the 2021 interview highlight his regret about Sable posing for Playboy magazine. But through his own admittance, what’s done is done and the two have now moved on to their separate ways in life. And there’s no point holding grudges over the matter now.
