The world of Hollywood has Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson sitting on its throne as the ultimate king. The People’s Champion worked his way up in the industry after a successful stint in WWE. Despite an unsuccessful start with boot-legged films, Johnson overcame the odds to emerge as the highest-paid actor in Hollywood.

Even after knowing everything about his raging success, at the end of the day, Johnson is still human. The Rock has had his own battles with depression that have been significant in his life.

What did The Rock learn from his battle with depression?

The Rock has been an unstoppable force, considering his success. However, before tasting the biggest heights of success, he and his family had gone through a lot in their lives. Firstly, his family found themselves evicted from their home. Then, he had to see his mother attempt to end her life, resorting to stealing from supermarts, and was left with seven dollars in his pocket. Finally, he had his dreams of playing professional football shattered due to frequent injuries.

This led to the former WWE champion going into a state of depression. But the hardest phase of his life taught him a valuable lesson. Johnson learned that he was not alone in this battle. It was tackled by every second person on the street, who fought it and emerged victorious. The Rock shared his experience in 2015, during an episode of Oprah Winfrey’s “Master Class” series.

“I found that with depression one of the most important things you could realize is that you’re not alone. You’re not the first to go through it,” he said. “I wish I had someone at that time who could just pull me aside and [say], ‘Hey, it’s going to be OK.”

The Rock not only came out of it stronger but went on to become one of the most successful people in the entire world.

The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment decided to lace up a pair of wrestling boots and get into the business, like his predecessors, after being cut from the NFL. He started in WWE in 1996 and went on to become the face of WWE’s Attitude Era alongside his arch-rival, WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin.

After conquering the WWE landscape, The Rock entered the film industry. Through the same hard work, perseverance, and consistency, he managed to become one of the biggest Hollywood stars. His battle with depression led him to realize his true calling, follow in his father’s footsteps, and the rest, they say, is history.
