In wrestling, heels, and babyfaces are diametrically opposed characters. Many wrestlers abide by this rule despite whatever is happening in their real life. For heels, one of the most striking qualities is of being rude and mean to people playing to their character. But Austin Theory, one of the rudest heels in WWE, just deviated from his heel image.
Austin Theory has been one of the despicable heels on Monday Night RAW and is in line to face John Cena at WrestleMania. Theory has done justice to his heel character but showed a rather soft side recently Despite a kid choosing Cody Rhodes as his favorite WWE star, Theory wasn’t anything but nice to the kid.

On WWE The Bump, Austin Theory was the guest of the day. After grilling him with questions about his WrestleMania opponent, John Cena, the hosts of the show brought out a Make-A-Wish Alumni, Evan St. Armand. But as soon as he came in, he was put on the host seat when Theory asked him who’s his favorite superstar in WWE right now.
Being an exceptional speaker, something that Kayla Braxton points out, Armand handles the question in an excellent fashion. With the US Champion sitting in front of him, he answered, “If you want my honest, unadulterated opinion I would say, Cody Rhodes, I know you would like it to be you…[…]I think you’re a pretty cool guy.”
Despite being one of the most hated heels at this moment, Theory was surprisingly pleasant to the kid. He reciprocated the compliment by saying, “you’re a pretty good guy as well” and then handed him the US title. Armand humbly handed the title back after holding it for a few seconds, but this came out of the left field for Theory.

All throughout the show, Theory projected the clear image of a proud heel. The way he arrived in the studio to the answers he gave related to John Cena as well showcased his talent as a young cocky heel.
At one point, the US Champion even calls Cena a motivational video you see once and forget the next moment. But this gesture surprised the hosts, Armand, and even the people watching at home.
