WWE is entering 2024 in style, leaving behind the hoards of epic matches and moments. ESPN tried to hold the essence to the best of their possibilities by announcing a series of best awards in different categories to celebrate the excellence that the company brought to the table throughout the year.
While they conferred ESPN’s Male Wrestler of The Year award for this year to none other than The American Nightmare, the current sensation of the company, LA Knight can’t be left behind either.

Punk had a meteoric and organic rise to the helm of WWE. From being close to the winning side of the Money in the Bank ladder match to uniting with John Cena, Knight showed immense potential and told the entire wrestling world where he belongs.
To capitalize on this undeniable momentum, WWE handed him a major push in the form of a shot at Reign’s championship at Crown Jewel.
Although the match didn’t go in his favor, he continues to be the top rising act of the business with fans largely backing him up.
To commemorate this remarkable journey from a majorly unsuccessful Max Dhupri gimmick to the WWE’s undisputed poster boy, ESPN awarded him with the Breakthrough Wrestler of the Year.
ESPN’s pro-wrestling awards for 2023:
Women’s wrestler of the year: Rhea Ripley [WWE]
Men’s wrestler of the year: Cody Rhodes [WWE]
Storyline of the year: The Bloodline 2.0 [WWE]

LA Knight garnered another big honor in the last week
WWE star LA Knight just passed a merrier Christmas last week as he received the key to his hometown of Hagerstown, Maryland on Saturday, December 23, 2024.
Hundreds of fans of the “WWE SmackDown” star showed up inside University Plaza to see Punk and pay tribute to him during and post the event. It was a pleasant surprise for the superstar himself who claimed that he wouldn’t expect this large amount of crowd to turn up. In a surreal moment, The city’s mayor, Tekesha Martinez, along with several young kids, presented Knight with the honor.
