Brock Lesnar is one of the biggest stars in WWE. He is a major attraction for the fans and has always been a major part of WWE Programming. But WWE once paid no heed to Brock Lesnar’s business instincts when he refused to fight a former WWF Hardcore Champion during the early years of his WWE career.
This former WWF Hardcore Champion is none other than former WWE Superstar ‘Hardcore Holly’. Lesnar and Holly battled against each other at WWE Royal Rumble 2004. Lesnar won that match in just over six minutes. But after that, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ had to fight Hardcore Holly in a series of WWE House Shows during a tour in South Africa.
Recalling that South Africa tour in his book, ‘Death Clutch’, The Beast Incarnate noted, “Now I have to travel all the way to South Africa to work with Bob Holly? Could anyone please tell me why? I knew no one would pay to see that match. Since I’m not really needed, give me some time off.”

Lesnar also wrote, “I really needed the break by this time, but John Laurinaitis told me how much I’m needed on the card. AGAINST BOB HOLLY? Are you sh***ing me?” (H/T: WhatCulture)

In the end, Brock Lesnar and Hardcore Holly competed in four singles matches on that South Africa tour. And the Beast Incarnate emerged victorious in all of them. Brock Lesnar and Hardcore Holly share a history. Holly accidentally injured his neck during a WWE match against Lesnar in 2002.
