The blows keep coming for the wrestling industry. Another pro wrestler has succumbed to death recently and the fans are more than heartbroken to hear this news. Brett Sawyer (real name Brett Woyan) passed away at the age of 68. The cause of death is still unknown.

The passing of Brett Sawyer was first revealed by retired pro wrestler and one-half of the tag team The Fantastics Bobby Fulton on social media. The news was confirmed on Sawyer’s Facebook page. Swayer was the sibling of Maddog” Buzz Sawyer, who was also his trainer. 

The Swayer brothers were famous for their tag team run in Pacific Northwest Wrestling during the 70s and early 80s. Brett Sawyer was a multiple-time NWA Pacific Northwest Champion and NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team Championship in the promotion.

Bobby Fulton recently logged onto X (formerly known as Twitter) to inform the fans of Brett Sawyer’s recent demise. With a very heavy heart, he informed everyone how much it pains to tell the fans this disheartening news.

Remembering Brett Sawyer and his late brother Buzz Sawyer (1959-1992), he claimed that both their stories will live forever.

He capped off his emotional tweet by sending his deepest condolences to Brett Sawyer’s family and friends and prayed to God to give them strength in this difficult time.

Brett Sawyer traveled the world and wrestled in different promotions. Unfortunately, the WWE Universe never got to see him showcasing his talent inside a WWE ring. However, he did wrestle Ric Flair in 1982 for The Nature Boy’s NWA World Heavyweight Title in a Portland Wrestling championship match.

The match took place at the Portland Sports Arena on October 2nd, 1982. Both the wrestlers put on a tremendous show and gave cutthroat competition to one another. But the bout could have only one victor and it was Flair who picked a big win on his so-called “favorite opponent.”
