Roman Reigns lost his father on the 25th of June this year. The wrestling world was in shambles that day. Fans of the Anoa’i family had to endure misery once again when a rumor broke out on the internet that Afa Anoa’i had passed away. No confirmation surfaced about the wrestling legend’s demise, but the rumor unfortunately spread like wildfire.

The misinformation eventually got to the Samoan family who must have been shocked to see the fans sending prayers and wishes for the allegedly lost legend. However, one of Roman Reigns’ cousins disclosed the truth behind the misinformation.

Roman Reigns’ uncle is still alive

Back in January 2024, Afa Anoa’i had suffered two heart attacks due to which he had to be hospitalized. One-half of The Wild Samoans were on the verge of leaving the world. Fortunately for the fans and his family, Afa still wakes up daily and feels grateful for his life. Afa’s daughter, Vale Anoa’i, took to X amidst the spreading misinformation and wrote, “Don’t believe anything you read unless it comes DIRECTLY from the family.”

The direct message that she was forced to upload on the internet shows how many fans were misdirected into believing that the world has lost Afa. In other tweets under the same thread, Vale reiterated that Samu’s message conveyed that Afa might ‘soon’ pass away but is still with the Anoa’i family. It seems like Reigns wouldn’t have to deal with another loss so soon. Nevertheless, the mood is not all somber as we get reminded of Reigns’ uncle splendid sense of humor.

Roman Reigns’ uncle cracked a joke to give a health update

The world lost Sika Anoa’i several weeks ago. Before he passed away, fans were primarily worried about the health of his brother because of how critical his health had gotten. However, back in January, fans received great news in the form of a health update from Afa himself. Those days at the beginning of this year were scary for the Original Tribal Chief and the rest of the family; not to forget, for the fans as well. Much to everybody’s relief, Roman Reigns’ elder uncle was released from the hospital when he was tested and medically cleared to head back home.

Although his health is not at an all-time best, Afa is still hanging in there like the warrior that he is. Unfortunately, the family thinks that he may not have a long time left in his hands. Back when he survived the two heart attacks and was headed home again, Afa claimed that he “kicked out at 1”. His cheerful update via a family member was enough to make fans happy. People were shaken to their core when Sika passed away and if the same happens with Afa, we might see something similar happening in the Internet Wrestling Community.
