The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes returned last year to WWE after leaving the company back in 2016. Hailing from the legendary Rhodes family, Cody would leave WWE in 2016 after having creative disputes over his character, Stardust.

His brother, Dustin Rhodes, Goldust, would follow him a few years later. Cody Rhodes would then go on to establish AEW and make them a direct competitor to WWE. However, last year, after his contract with AEW finished, he would find his way back to WWE. And earn himself a World title match at WrestleMania 39, although losing there at ‘Mania.

On the recently aired episode of WWE Legends Biography featuring the tale of The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes, and both of his sons opened up on a heartbreaking incident, which Dusty Rhodes had to undergo a few hours before his eldest son was born.

Just a few hours before the birth of Dustin Rhodes, Dusty Rhodes’ father, Virgil Runnels Sr, passed away. Speaking in the documentary, the entire Rhodes family opened up about the heartbreaking incident.

Watching the Rhodes family unite on the account of the legendary Dusty Rhodes’ documentary was a wholesome moment. The documentary provided a peek into their emotions. Dustin Rhodes spoke about how it was a tremendous burden for his father to lose his dad a day prior to his birth.

He said, “A lot of people don’t know that my grandfather, dad’s dad died the day before I was born. I did not talk to him a lot about that. There’s absolutely no way I can imagine that, for him to lose his father and then ‘oh my god now have a baby boy’. That was to anybody an overload man!”

Michelle Rubio, the wife of Dusty Rhodes, would also share how Dustin’s grandfather was excited to have a grandson. Furthermore, she addressed how he would flaunt it around with a sign in his pocket. Dusty’s brother would also reveal how their father never saw Dusty wrestle, but always kept a newspaper cutting related to his son’s wrestling ventures in his wallet.

Dusty Rhodes was a legend and helped build the career of several young WWE superstars. He guided them on the right path and forged them into literal superstars. Starting from his own son, Cody Rhodes, to Roman Reigns, and even Bayley, Dusty Rhodes had a huge hand in the success of their careers.

However, with him now gone forever, fans can only cherish his legacy and remember him through this documentary.
