The latest episode of SmackDown in Denver, Colorado was full of major surprises. Its two biggest highlights were the return of commentator Pat McAfee and WWE Legend ‘The Rock’ opening the show with a beat down to Austin Theory. Meanwhile, John Cena’s segment with Grayson Waller helped to elevate many storylines further. 

However, amidst all the star power, the presence of a former WWE Superstar was somehow unnoticed by many. This superstar later went on to tweet about the same while thanking Vince McMahon and Triple H

Former WWE Superstar Martin Wright aka The Boogeyman was known for his unique supernatural gimmick that gave nightmares to wrestling fans. He has been out of action in WWE since early 2009, after a match against Kane on an episode of ECW. 

On September 16th, he posted on his Instagram account with the caption, “Thank you to #WWECEO VINCE MCMAHON,#,fWWEHOF PAUL LEVESQUE (Triple H)and the #WWEUNIVERSE for believing in me …BE THE VERSION OF YOU …and GOD WILL DO THE REST🙏🏽.”

In the caption, he thanked Vince McMahon, Paul Levesque (Triple H), and the WWE Universe for believing in him. He also had a message for his fans to be the best version of themselves and believe in god, something unexpected from a person who portrayed a supernatural gimmick.

The post had a picture of a smiling Wright, a rare sight, standing among the fans in a suit. He was unrecognizable to wrestling fans, let alone to the public. He did not have any face paint, his signature wrestling gear along with using insects and worms. Hence, it was difficult for many to recognize him, as he was dressed as a regular person.

Boogeyman asked Vince for another chance in 2021

This is not the first time Wright has tried to communicate with Vince McMahon through social media. The 56-year-old is known for being active on social media and has tried to ask for an opportunity through X. In a tweet made on April 5, 2021, he uploaded a clip of him skipping to show that he is still in shape and a caption, “Give me the ball Vince.

He made a return to the WWE in October 2022, when he appeared in the promotion’s Bump Podcast. He later uploaded a picture of him teasing late WWE Superstar Bray Wyatt with the caption, “I AM………your father CMIN2GETCHA.
