Sasha Banks (aka Mercedes Mone) left WWE last May and moved to Japan to explore other wrestling territories. She had a marvelous start at NJPW, where she held gold for two months. Given her stardom in the wrestling world, her reign was a dominant one, but soon things went south for her.
At NJPW’s Resurgence on May 21st, she sustained an ankle injury on her right leg, which has forced her to take time away from the ring. After months now, social media is buzzing with speculations and rumors of her return as she is to return soon. But where will she land? Aaron Varble of SEScoops recently released an exclusive report revealing will Banks’ sign with WWE after her return from an injury hiatus. According to the internal updates provided to him by internal sources in WWE, “There’s no deal, or no deal yet.”
He added, “I was told by a tenured member of the WWE team on December 12th that, “Sasha Banks’ name will only come up when there’s a deal.” Banks’ return from injury hiatus is inching closer day by day as she posted a video a couple of weeks back of herself training at the Hybrid School of Wrestling in San Antonio, Texas.
But there has been no news about her and WWE entering a deal. Both the parties haven’t even talked yet.
The WWE Universe will not get to see Banks any time soon
Discussing further, Varble also revealed that WWE sources confirmed three times in the past 30 days that there are no contract talks with Banks. The creative team is also not discussing any ideas for her return to the company.

If this is the case then, the chances of AEW acquiring Banks are looking higher. The two companies have always fought to acquire the best free agents in the wrestling market and right now, with no official update on her current contract status with NJPW, she appears to be the hottest free agent.
During AEW’s All In at Wembley Stadium in London, cameras captured Banks watching the AEW Women’s Title match from the crowd. It was reported earlier that she was scheduled to wrestle at All In, but due to her incomplete recovery from the injury, she was not cleared to compete yet.
