The picturesque island of Maui in Hawaii is currently ravaged by a spreading wildfire. The fire, which ignited on August 8th in the Lahaina area, has tragically resulted in multiple fatalities and shows no signs of abating. In the midst of the unfortunate ongoing situation, AEW President Tony Khan has stepped forward with a praiseworthy act of compassion.
AEW is continuing to grow perpetually in the wrestling industry. The Jacksonville-based promotion is set to organize its All In PPV event later this month in The UK. With remarkable ticket sales for the event, the show is expected to reach new milestones. The Maui wildfire has claimed many lives, and the number of casualties continues to rise. According to USA Today, the death toll has risen to a total of 67 so far. Furthermore, the fire has prompted the evacuation of communities. While the people of Maui struggle in dire times, Tony Khan took to social media to dedicate the next week’s AEW events to the victims of the fire.
Khan announced that he is going to assist the victims by changing the schedules of AEW’s upcoming programs, naming all three events, “Fight For The Fallen.” In addition, all proceeds from Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision will go directly to the Maui food bank.
He wrote, “Based on the horrific fires in Maui, I’ve changed AEW’s upcoming schedule to provide assistance. Next week on Wed/Fri/Sat, it’s AEW Fight For The Fallen 2023 on #AEWDynamite #AEWRampage #AEWCollision Proceeds from AEW on 8/16 Nashville + 8/19 Lexington will go to @MauiFoodBank.”

As per Maui’s Governor, Josh Green, the event appears to be the most substantial natural catastrophe in Maui’s history. In a similar vein, Khan has aligned himself with numerous influential figures, including Jeff Bezos, who has committed to providing $100 million to the state for assistance.
While the state was engulfed in flames, a notable AEW star made a narrow escape from the fire, leading himself and his wife to safety. The star in question is none other than Dustin Rhodes.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Rhodes explained how close he and his wife were to the fire. He wrote on Twitter, “Prayers for everyone in Maui including my wife and I. We were without power or food since early Tuesday morning. A brush fire(one of many), destroyed Lahaina just 2 miles from where we were staying. We evacuated to other side of Island and were lucky to find accommodations. Been a helluva day.”
Rhodes and his spouse, unfortunately, endured nearly 48 hours without electricity and sustenance. Thankfully, they are unharmed and were lucky to secure lodging.
