WWE is promoting the upcoming SummerSlam as the biggest party of Summer. Thanks to its status as one of the big four PPVs, and its full capacity audience, WWE is also calling it the biggest event of the year.
Before every big PPV, WWE selects a ‘theme song’ to accompany it. For example, “Save Your Tears” by The Weeknd, “Head Up High” by Fitz, and ‘All The Gold’ by def rebel were the official theme songs for WrestleMania 37.
Hence, it is expected that SummerSlam 2021 will also have a theme song. The theme song is “Up” by none other than Cardi B. WWE has termed the song as “the song of the summer.”

Why did WWE choose Up as the official theme for SummerSlam 2021?
By choosing up, or choosing Cardi B, WWE is hopping on the trends of pop culture. Previously WWE mentioned that they want to become more popular and relevant to the Gen Z and millenials demographic. Therefore WrestleMania featured Grammy winner Bad Bunny, and in a match.
Earlier this year, WWE president Nick Khan explained, “No matter when people start watching, they’re always going to obviously get older, so you always have to figure out a new way to get young people in. So what we’re in the middle of—the bad Bunny thing… that’s obviously tailored towards a young audience.”
