Is WWE doing enough to protect its wrestlers after Akira Tozawa's scary botch on Raw?

The Alpha Academy butted heads with Brutus and Julius Creed of American Made on the August 12 episode of WWE Raw. The match was supposed to pan under the Texas Tornado tag rules that imply all four men would fight each other in the matchup at the same time. The Creed brothers and Gable have been getting under the skin of Akira Tozawa and Otis for a while. Although they were subdued by the terror of Uncle Howdy and Wyatt 6 in the past, the fire was still raging. So, the stipulation made sense, and unsurprisingly; it invited some dangers including a risky botch from Tozawa.

The match ended with the Alpha Academy receiving a blow. The match included a lot of intriguing factors, including Maxxine Dupri siding with the Alpha Academy despite an alluring offer. Otis and Tozawa had initially taken the match in their favor, with the former sending Tozawa flying into The Creed Brothers. Shortly after, the situation took pear shape as Ivy Nile ambushed Maxine, crashing her through the announcer’s table before locking in a Dragon Sleeper. This caused a distraction to Otis, allowing the American Made to pick up the win. However, this is not the saddest thing about the match.

Although Otis and Tozawa involuntarily had the support of Uncle Howdy & Co., this time on Raw, they faced off against their foes alone. In such a crucial matchup, fans found Big Over’s botch nothing but an aspect that dampened proceedings.

The Alpha Academy member had a knack for making botches, and it was certainly not the first time. A month or so ago, Tozawa experienced a nasty fall from the top rope. During the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, the 38-year-old was manhandled by Ivar. The Viking Raiders member threw him over the top rope at Otis after thrashing him mercilessly. Tozawa closely escaped injury,. Tonight as well, fortunately, he was visibly in a good place after the move.
